Green solutions are an inevitable choice in the context of global sustainable development. This article takes you through BYK’s green foaming solutions, BYK-8020 and BYK-8070 , two mechanical foaming foam stabilizers that make our plastic economy green, environmentally friendly and sustainable.
01Industry background
PVC foam products are widely used. At present, the commonly used foaming form of PVC materials is chemical foaming, and azodicarbonamide is mainly used as the foaming agent (hereinafter referred to as AC foaming agent). However, on June 27, 2018, the European Union included AC foaming agents in the list of substances of very high concern (SVHC), which caused the market and consumers to worry about products produced using AC foaming agents. However, at this stage, AC foaming agent is still the best foaming agent used in PVC foaming materials in terms of performance and cost. The industry is currently unable to find a suitable alternative solution.
If you have any questions, please contact BYK. For this extremely challenging problem, BYK Chemicals, a master in the additive industry, has long proposed a corresponding solution, that is: using mechanical foaming technology and combining BYK’s green foam stabilizers BYK- 8020 and BYK- 8070 .
02Why use mechanical foaming
- Lower gel temperature compared to chemical foaming
- Better sound insulation and resilience (thick coating)
- When dipping and scraping, less PVC paste is needed for the same degree of infiltration.
- Foamed products have a flatter surface
- No trouble caused by AC foaming agent, combined with BYK's foam stabilizer, low odor and low VOC
