CC 301 is a dispersion with a silica content of 30%. The dispersed silica exists in an amorphous form, commonly known as colloidal silica.

CC 301 has a particle size of 7 nanometers, uniform particle size distribution, and a large specific surface area. It is a liquid with a specific gravity slightly larger than water. The surface has been modified with silane and has good storage stability.

The particle size of CC 301 is tiny. Compared with traditional colloidal silica, CC 301 can be used at a lower dosage. Different application fields require different dosages and methods. It is recommended to add it separately to water-based resins and emulsions. CC 301 should not be premixed with other additives. The addition amount is usually 10%-40% of the resin or emulsion content (5% to 8% of the total system).

CC 301 with an emulsion content of 10%-40% is added to the one-component acrylic formula, and is combined with Momentive silane COATOSIL 2287 (2287 has good storage stability in water-based coatings, and is denser and has better performance by reacting with CC 301 coating), reaching the same fullness as solvent-based coatings.

be careful:

  • It is recommended to add it directly to the emulsion or resin without premixing it with additives.

  • The test of the added amount is directly related to the Tg of the resin. A low Tg can be used to add a high amount, and a high Tg can be used to add a small amount. Adding too much will result in poor chemical resistance and mechanical properties of the coating.
